The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
