Expedition 33 Sweeps at the 2025 Gaming Honors
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards were hosted this past week, and with a remarkable show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the esteemed Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Outstanding Narrative and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's success, its talented performers also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English received Best Lead Performer for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Best Supporting Performer for his role as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its makers won 7 awards during the ceremony.
Other standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which received Outstanding Audio and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. Notably, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the audience, with only four special—Critics' Pick, Rising Star, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by experts.
